Technical Lead
- Workload: 80-100%
- Contract type: Full time
- Model of Work: Hybrid
- Start: 01.11.2024
We are looking for an overall technical lead for our Disco team, which builds and runs Tamedia’s news sites and apps. The tech stack is mostly React, Next, Node, and Mongo. Plus Swift and Kotlin for the apps. And some other stuff. We can fill you in on the details.
Join us - we’re fun. Bring ideas. Agitate, and have some impact. Contribute to something meaningful.
What you can expect
Technology is in your DNA – you dream in code.
You are curious, fullstack-competent, and like to play in different technical areas. You have a special interest in frontend.
Perhaps you have never focused on being a “leader”, but have noticed that others seek out your opinion and help. Experienced engineers come to you when they want someone to look at their technical designs or code.
You like to understand how frameworks work, under the hood. You find that the “how” to use a framework is usually easy, and the “why” and “when” to use the framework are more interesting questions.
You choose the right programming paradigm and language for the particular problem at hand. And you also understand the value of converging on a focused tech stack.
You are able to talk to people with different backgrounds.
You dislike dogma – you form your own opinions, and revise them as needed.
You are patient with people who don’t code, but suspicious of “architects” who don’t code. You don’t call yourself an architect, but you have clear thoughts on how different parts of an ecosystem should work together
You enjoy coaching other engineers and helping technologists grow.
You still remember most of the stuff you learned while working on your computer science degree, but you’ve learned a lot more since then.
You like to work with people who are smart and get things done.
You share our belief that reliable information is increasingly important, in a world where disinformation is becoming the norm.
Does all of this describe what you see in the mirror? If so, we should talk.
We are looking for
The fine print:
The role is in Zurich, and is a blend of onsite and home office.
Working permission for Switzerland is a requirement, and unfortunately, we can’t arrange it for you. If you are not a citizen of Switzerland or another EU/EFTA country, and you don’t already have a work permit, it’s probably not going to work.
German language skills will come in handy in our environment; if you lack them but are otherwise a great fit, we still want to talk with you.
