Your role and responsibilities

For our competence center at ABB Traction in Turgi, we are looking for a flexible and highly motivated Control Engineer to strengthen our multi-disciplinary Engineering team in the domains of Cybersecurity, SW process and Project development.In this role you will be working in a dynamic and evolving environment, defining innovative processes and solutions to secure our SW development for customer applications. Additionally, you will directly be working on customer projects, developing and standardizing traction application software for a wide range of vehicles. The work model for the role is: hybridYour responsibilities• You lead the activities for establishing, organizing and enhancing cybersecurity process, guidelines and trainings within Traction Control Engineering to comply with IEC62443 standard in collaboration with cross-functional teams.• You develop and implement robust cybersecurity strategies, policies, and procedures to safeguard our customer project software and networks against evolving cyber threats and vulnerabilities.• You stay updated with emerging threats, security technologies, and best practices, to enhance security within our products.• You lead the further development and organization of Software development processes, guidelines and engineering trainings in all aspects of Control software to show compliance to EN 50657, EN 50716, EN 50128 and other industry-specific standards.• You provide homologation support, knowledge of standards and regulations, you release/approve software documents and are the contact person to the certification bodies and government authorities. • You are in close collaboration with the R&D and further engineering responsibles for Processes and Cybersecurity. • You develop control software and documentation for customer projects for traction converters from the software requirements definition to the operational release running on the final system to keep in touch with the project reality.• You test and troubleshoot your software in diverse environments like real-time simulator, laboratory, and finally on the vehicle during commissioning.

Qualifications for the role

  • You have a University (Higher education) degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, or equivalent.
  • Working experience in the railway industry is a plus.
  • You have experience with computer networks, communication protocols and field bus and their configurations (Ethernet, serial communication, CAN, TRDP, J1939, MVB, …)
  • You have an understanding of SW development processes standards (like EN 50657, EN 50128 or IS0 26262)
  • You have an interest in Cybersecurity topics. Experience with the standard IEC62443 is a plus.
  • You bring experience in SW development for closed loop control, signal processing, algorithms, and real time programming mechanisms.
  • You have experience with PLC programming (IEC61131, Matlab/Simulink) as well as with SW Versioning tools (SVN, Git) and bring a well-structured approach to creating high-quality software and documentation[TN1]
  • You are willing to educate yourself continuously in the field of cybersecurity, staying updated on the latest trends, and working with the latest systems and technologies in the field.
  • You have the ability to work effectively in close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, the ability to learn quickly and flair to face new challenges.
  • You bring a creative and solution-focused approach and show strong written and spoken communication skills in English (German is a plus)
