The organizing committee is looking for a student assistant to assist us in organizing, coordinating, and moderating the Lecture Series for the coming fall semester 2024.
20% from September 1st until January/February 2025 (end date tbd)
Project background
The lecture series offers an introduction to the relationship between gender and science, with a focus on the specific intersections with the sciences taught at ETH. It is part of the Science in Perspective program. It is designed to acquaint students from all levels and departments with the various ways in which gender perspectives matter for specific scientific disciplines, as well as for science in general. Students will learn to recognize and analyse the specific ways in which scientific theories and methods are gendered, and how this connects to their own scientific disciplines.
Job description
You will have to set up and maintain the moodle page for the course which includes obtaining the readings from speakers and uploading them to Moodle. Throughout the course, you will moderate a course forum with student questions, create posts and add extra learning material. If the lecture is hybrid, you will help us set up a Zoom. For on-site lectures, you will be in charge of renting equipment for the guests and setting up the room (making sure everything is working. During the lecture series, we may ask you to support us in communicating with guest speakers and students via email. As well, you will be helping us with handling administrative refunds and other financial tasks. Finally, we expect you to attend meetings (mandatory) on site.
