Software Development Engineer III

We are looking for a well-rounded Software Development Engineer to join our team. This is a hands-on programming role responsible for developing solutions on a critical tool that our agents use to support our Expedia and Vrbo customers.

What you'll do:

• Design, develop, and maintain applications using Java and Spring Boot framework.
• Understand Relational database performance and write optimized queries.
• Develop features relying on event-driven, microservices, and data science programming model to enable our Customer Experience representatives to effectively and efficiently support Vrbo and Expedia entire customer base
• Communicate with different downstream owners to understand their integration
• Keep our agent platforms running at high scale, speed, accuracy and reliability
• Understand product requirements and convert them into working modules.
• Building component-based web UI architectures with modern JavaScript libraries (React.JS) when required.
• Implement Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment chaining using Docker, Jenkins and Github actions.

Technologies you will use:

• Java, Spring Boot , Spring MVC , JavaScript, React.js, Node.Js, jQuery, CSS, HTML5, Kafka, NoSql, RESTful APIs, and Service Oriented Architecture.

Who you are:

• Bachelor's Degree or higher, preferably in Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
• 5-7 years overall development experience, with direct expertise delivering consumer-facing web applications
• Strong software development skills using the technologies we use
• Experience in collaborating on a multi-functional team including product management, architects, UI Designers, and customer support
• Experience working in an Agile/Scrum team environment
• Familiarity with multiple programming languages and an ability/willingness to learn.
