PhD Position on "Radio Frequency (RF) and Mm-Wave Integrated Circuits and Systems"

100%, Zurich, fixed-term

The Integrated Devices, Electronics, And Systems (IDEAS) Group of ETH Zurich invites applications for two PhD positions in the field of integrated RF/Mm-Wave circuits and systems for next-generation communication and sensing, such as 5G/6G, Space Electronics, Radar, and Imaging.

These two PhD positions focus on the designs, implementations, and demonstrations of integrated circuit with new circuit topologies and system architectures to advance Radio Frequency (RF), Mm-Wave, and TeraHz integrated electronics.

Potential topics of interest include:

  • Novel frontend integrated circuits for power amplification, low noise amplification, antenna interfacing, and beamforming
  • New phased array or MIMO array architectures and operations
  • Antenna-electronics co-designs
  • Low-overhead circuits with high accuracy and robustness for built-in-self-testing (BiST)
  • Compound semiconductor circuit designs and co-integration with silicon circuits
  • Applying AI/ML methods for (post-silicon) fast reconfiguration of complex circuits/systems or (pre-silicon) rapid design and synthesis of RF/mm-Wave integrated circuits

Project background

The ETH IDEAS Group, led by Prof. Hua Wang, is a world-leading research group in the field of integrated circuits and systems for next-generation wireless communication, sensing, and various emerging technology applications.
