Your Responsibilities:

 

As Automation Engineer PCS you will be part of the team 'Smart Automation' within the Smart Manufacturing department in Bachem's Manufacturing Science and Technology (MSAT) organization. With special emphasis on batch process control systems (primarily Siemens PCS7) you will develop, support, and enhance our process automation capability. You will also help to ensure optimal utilization of these systems by end users and contribute to new automation projects. Your working partners will be colleagues in IT, OT, and Quality functions, as well as various external partners.

 

 

Your Tasks:

 

  • Design and maintain Bachem's automation software capabilities, particularly our library of standardized automation functions (master recipe phases)
  • Advanced system support for Bachem's PCS7 stack including WinCC and Simatic Batch, including support of recipe designers and establishing best practices
  • Supporting engineering and MSAT teams during commissioning and startup of automation-centric production facilities
  • Supporting testing and simulation capabilities, including SIMIT-based equipment simulation
  • Configuration and change management, software validation activities
  • Support the process of MSR and P&ID preparation.
  • Participate in risk assessments for process validation, suggest and implement learnings
  • Requirements gathering, consolidation of requirements, and implementation activities for automation projects

 

 

Your Profile:

 

  • University degree in automation engineering, process engineering, pharmaceutical technology, or equivalent experience
  • Training or experience with process control systems (ideally Siemens PCS7, Simatic batch) and related auxiliary software (e.g. SIMIT)
  • Ability to understand process requirements for automation solutions and translate them to technical specifications
  • Ability to understand and follow ISA88 and Pharma Standard
  • Ability to understand electrical diagrams, P&ID, network topology, etc. to provide suggestions for expansion or adaption
  • Dedicated, self-driven personality, who enjoys taking initiative and working in a fast-paced environment

 

Preferred:

  • Solid knowledge of German is a strong plus
  • Basic IT/OT knowhow, e.g. TCP/IP networking, Windows system administration, virtualization, SQL databases
  • Compliance and GMP requirements, particularly in the context of process automation
  • Working experience in the pharmaceutical industry
