Senior Procurement Specialist / Category Manager

Unilabs is the largest provider of medical laboratory diagnostics for prescribers and hospitals in Switzerland and employs around 800 people.

Your Tasks

We are looking for a Senior Procurement Specialist / Category Manager to join our procurement team in Switzerland. This role will be responsible for managing procurement activities, developing category strategies, and ensuring supplier performance, with a strong focus on Capex procurement, ideally within the medical industry.

A key component of this role is to support the migration to a new ERP system, particularly in testing phases (UAT, SAT) and ensuring that procurement processes are successfully integrated. The ideal candidate must also have a strong business analytics background, including expertise in Excel, Power BI, and other data visualization tools.

Additionally, the Category Manager will coordinate with the Global Category Manager to align local procurement strategies with the company’s global objectives.

• Develop and implement category strategies tailored to Swiss market needs.

• Identify, assess, and negotiate with suppliers to optimize costs, quality, and service levels.

• Drive cost-saving initiatives and supplier performance improvements.

• Track supplier pricing evolution, analyze budget impacts, and reconcile invoiced vs. ordered prices.

• Manage Capex purchasing activities, particularly for medical equipment, laboratory instruments, and facility investments.

• Define technical specifications, manage sourcing, and evaluate supplier proposals.

• Optimize total cost of ownership (TCO) and ensure compliance with industry regulations.

• Support the ERP migration team by participating in System Integration Testing (SIT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and Supplier Acceptance Testing (SAT).

• Work closely with the Global Category Manager to align Swiss procurement strategies with global policies.

• Collaborate with finance, supply chain, and medical teams to ensure procurement efficiency.

• Ensure compliance with corporate procurement guidelines and industry best practices

Your Profile

• 8+ years of experience in procurement, category management, or strategic sourcing, with a focus on Capex procurement (preferably in the medical industry).

• Strong background in business analytics – expertise in Excel (pivot tables, macros), Power BI, and data visualization tools.

• Experience in ERP systems (SAP, Dynamics 365, Coupa, or equivalent) and digital procurement tools.

• Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.

• Proven ability to work in cross-functional teams and in an international environment.

• Fluent in English and French (C1 minimum); German is a plus.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Procurement, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
