What you'll be doing here
- Develop and implement a comprehensive business development strategy for international research, advisory, and capacity-building initiatives
- Proactively identify and secure multi-year funding opportunities from diverse donor sources, including bilateral/multilateral agencies, private and philanthropic foundations, and emerging donors
- Build and manage strategic relationships with key stakeholders, ranging from government bodies to private sector partners, to broaden HAFL's impact
- Lead the development of competitive, impact-driven proposals and innovative financing models to drive sustainable growth
- Design and implement revenue diversification and cost-recovery strategies while tracking performance through key metrics
What you'll bring with you
- Education: Master's degree in Business Administration, International Development, Economics, Agriculture, Forestry, Food Systems, or a related field
- Professional experience: At least 8 years of proven experience in business development, fundraising, or strategic partnerships within research, consulting, or international development environments
- Possess a strong and proven global, regional, and local understanding of business development shifts and patterns, enabling rapid adaptation and strategic pivoting to capitalise on emerging opportunities
- Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, negotiation, and relationship management skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex ideas
- High fluency in English, German, and French; additional languages are considered a plus
