Job Description
Specialty Lines Treaty Underwriter Engineering
Based in Zürich, the jobholder is responsible for the underwriting of Engineering treaties within the scope defined by the Head of Engineering through regional brokers / cedents

Responsibilities
- Underwrites treaty business related to his/her assigned area in accordance with SCOR underwriting guidelines and taking into account the inputs received from market responsibles, Actuaries, Nat Cat, Technical Accounting, Claims and Legal
- Responsible for the P&L results related to his/her assigned portfolio
- Visits and meets with clients and brokers to maintain the relationship, establish SCOR and carry SCOR's vision and mission to the marketplace to develop the book.
- Participate and represent SCOR in market events
- Contribute and participate in SCOR technical training seminars
- Contribute to the elaboration and implementation of a strategy, client tactic as well as respective planning in close coordination with Specialty Lines Engineering and Regional Managers
- Supports Regional Managers for Referral escalation to Head of Engineering when appropriate and necessary.
- Proactively monitors marketplace/market developments to identify trends and cycles and new potentials.
- Prices the treaties which are delegated to the underwriters i.e. categorized as A/B by our pricing team
- Handles the special acceptances for his/her assigned area in line with SL Engineering process.
Qualifications
Experience:
- 5-10 years of industry experience and/or direct insurance/reinsurance underwriting experience.
- Good understanding and knowledge of the engineering markets
- International experience including travelling
Personal Competencies:
- Ability to interpret and analyze larger volumes of data
- Review of policy documents, contracts, and underwriting guidelines to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Ability to make informed and timely decisions based on data analysis and risk assessment
- Clear and concise communication with clients, brokers, and internal teams
- Good negotiation skills
- Capable to work under pressure, remaining centered and objective even in stressful situations.
- Excellent team player, working effectively with colleagues in underwriting, claims, actuarial, and other departments to achieve common goals.
- Demonstrating strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain positive working relationships with colleague and clients
- Open minded and willingness to learn and adopt new technologies and methodologies in underwriting.
- Identifying potential risks and developing strategies to mitigate them.
Required Education
- University engineering degree or similar education; preferably civil or mechanical engineering background
- Insurance experience and/or qualifications desirable
- Reinsurance experience would be a benefit
