As a Mathematics Teacher, you play a pivotal role in fostering a deep understanding and appreciation for mathematics among your students. Your primary responsibility is to deliver engaging and challenging mathematics lessons that inspire students to thrive and excel, catering to the diverse needs and abilities of all your students. Your goal is to develop essential mathematical knowledge, deep conceptual understanding and problem-solving skills whilst promoting the IB philosophy of inquiry-based learning, nurturing a positive attitude toward the subject.
Teaching and Learning
- Deliver engaging and interactive Mathematics lessons to students in Grades 6 to 12, following the IB MYP and DP curricula.
- Tailor lessons to meet the diverse needs of your students, providing challenges that inspire and motivate them.
- Integrate technology effectively into your teaching to enhance the learning experience.
- Manage the classroom environment, fostering both academic achievement and social-emotional growth.
- Teach the Personal Development Programme to your assigned class as their tutor.
Assessment and Reporting
Design and implement formative and summative assessments aligned with learning objectives.
Provide timely and relevant feedback to students, helping them to track and achieve their learning goals.
Participate in Student-Parent-Teacher Conferences, providing insightful feedback on student progress.
Maintain communication with parents and proactively address any concerns.
Curriculum development
- Collaborate with the Head of Department and IB Coordinators to ensure the curriculum is up-to-date and meets all program requirements.
- Contribute to interdisciplinary projects and curriculum planning to provide a well-rounded educational experience.
- Supervise Personal Projects and Extended Essays, offering guidance and support to students.
Social and emotional aspects of learning as a teacher and tutor
- Support students in their social and emotional well-being, creating a safe and inclusive environment where all students can thrive.
- Act as a tutor and guide your students' holistic development through the Personal Development Programme.
- Address any concerns regarding student welfare, achievement, or behavior in a timely manner, working with the Secondary Pastoral Leadership Team when necessary.
Supporting the collaborative culture at ICS
- Actively participate in team meetings and school-wide initiatives.
- Assist with class coverage in case of absence and contribute to exam administration.
- Engage in extracurricular activities, including field trips and student recognition processes.
- Contribute positively to the school's collaborative culture by fostering strong relationships with colleagues and students.
