Introduction
UNIL is a leading international teaching and research institution, with over 5,000 employees and 17,000 students split between its Dorigny campus, CHUV and Epalinges. As an employer, UNIL encourages excellence, individual recognition and responsibility.
Presentation
The Center for Integrative Genomics of the University of Lausanne invites applications for a postdoctoral position in the group of Aleksandar Vještica to work in the area of sexual lifecycle in fungi, with a focus on mechanism of gamete-to-zygote transition in fission yeast. We previously showed striking similarities between zygotes of fission yeast and higher eukaryotes, and now use this powerful model system to explore molecular mechanisms that regulate zygotic fate establishment and subsequent development. We are currently exploring roles of transcriptional and post-transcriptional regulation in early zygotes. The Vjestica lab is funded by the European Research Council (ERC Starting Grant), Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF Eccellenza Grant) and University of Lausanne. Workplace: University of Lausanne, Dorigny Campus, Center for Integrative Génomics (CIG, http://www.unil.ch/cig ).
Your responsibilities
The fellow will work on the ERC Starting Grant-funded project to characterize the mechanisms driving changes in zygotic gene expression. The roles of post-transcriptional RNA regulation are of particular interest. The fellow will be expected to formulate and pursue a challenging project, and encouraged to develop as an independent researcher. Work will rely on integrating high-throughput genomics and proteomics, advanced genetics, microscopy and image analysis.
Your qualifications
In order to complete our team, we are looking for someone with the following qualifications:
