We’re looking for a Product Owner – Business Optimization who will join our team to contribute to the vision, planning, and execution of sales experiences for the Tax Professionals customer segment in Thomson Reuters. In addition to driving and delivering business results, we serve as a leading partner in driving artificial intelligence (AI) transformation across Thomson Reuters.
This role will be primarily responsible for delivering work related to, and in support of, our sales capabilities, with focus on artificial intelligence and analytics. The Product Owner will be part of a collaborative team, which collectively prioritizes and delivers work across the sales/customer journey, including Find/Learn, Try/Buy, Onboard/Use, Renew/Grow.
About the role
In this opportunity as Product Owner – Business Optimization, you will be:
- Leading the definition of the product vision for each initiative and for your assigned touchpoints of the experience, with strategic direction from the Business Optimization Lead and the Business Integration Leadership team, and input from various stakeholders and appropriate context from other digital workstreams.
- Ensuring the squad delivers the highest business and customer value for each sprint; driving release planning and sprint planning (by writing and prioritizing user stories), signing off on user stories, leading demos, and prioritizing customer and stakeholder feedback. Leading dedicated squads and/or delivery team partners to prioritize maximum impact work is a key part of this role.
- Delivering working capabilities on time with features required to support the business’s goals for the sales experience, with an appropriate balance between ideal state and an MVP experience.
- Ensuring successful launch, adoption, and continuous improvement of capabilities within each journey stage by collaborating closely with various Operate teams to support operationalization, capture learnings, and iterate the experience.
Responsibilities & Deliverables:
- Leads co-creation of the product vision with stakeholders and with the context of other digital workstreams
- Quickly develops and assimilates new teams to start sprinting
- Facilitate business requirement gathering and definition through various methods, including market research, internal and customer interviews, workshops, and business grooming and tollgate review sessions.
- Analyze and interpret business requirements and perform current, target, gap and impact analyses.
- Translate business requirements into detailed user stories that are understood by all stakeholders, both business and technical, and manage changes to specifications and process flows.
- Ensures user research is conducted as appropriate for each project and within sprints to inform the digital journey
- Collaborates with other POs, Commercial Excellence, Product Marketing, and Product Teams to ensure product “moves with the market”
- Defines product success criteria that deliver business value
- Drives release planning and sprint planning, with user stories prioritized at least 1-2 sprints ahead
- Owns (and elevates) key product decisions, and sign-off of user stories and release of software to customers
- Manages stakeholder relationships effectively to ensure alignment and advocacy from our partners
- Monitors team performance metrics to ensure that user stories with highest business and user value are prioritized
About you
We’re looking for an ambitious Business Analyst looking for the next step in their career journey or an experienced Product Owner, Product Manager, or Digital Marketer. The ideal candidate has both a passion for creating outstanding sales and customer experiences and some expertise in driving product development efforts in Agile teams. You're fit for the role of Product Owner – Business Optimization if you have:
- 3+ years of experience creating and delivering experiences for sales, from ideation to launch, with primary ownership or a key role in driving the product backlog, delivery, and monitoring
- Experience collaborating cross-functionally, and with stakeholders and team members at all levels, to co-create a product with a superb customer experience and maximum business impact
- Demonstrated domain expertise and/or technical acumen, with solid knowledge of digital sales and marketing trends, system integrations, API, and new solutions
- Creates excitement among squad members by setting the bar high, and then inspiring action, communicating values, and serving as a mentor/coach to squad members
- Comfortable driving experiments that value both success and failure as key learning opportunities, and leveraging data to make improvements accordingly
- Entrepreneurial approach: willing to ’roll up sleeves,’ be innovative, take risks; is passionate, a self-starter, persistent despite obstacles; comfortable with ambiguity and evolving requirements
- Ability to balance the ideal operational state with doing what it takes to deliver on goals
- Bachelor's degree required
