Administrator and Management Support (70-100%) for CSS Mediation Support Team
The Center for Security Studies (CSS) at ETH Zurich is a center of competence for Swiss and international security policy and peace promotion. It offers policy expertise in research, teaching, and consultancy.
The CSS Think Tank serves as an important link between academia and practitioners in the field of security policy and as a point of contact and reference for the wider public.
Our CSS Mediation Support Team facilitates efforts to negotiate, mediate and transform violent political conflicts by conducting research, providing training (e.g. peacemediation.ch) and directly supporting those engaged in peace practice and conflict transformation processes.
The term of appointment is for two years, with the option to prolong if there is funding and it fits the candidate’s career path.
Job description
We are seeking someone to work as an administrator to support the management and running of the CSS Mediation Support Team and in addition covers admin and event-related tasks of the CSS Think Tank head.
As the CSS Mediation Support Team Administrator and Management Support, you will play a key role in ensuring the seamless operation of our team’s programs and projects. Your responsibilities will include organising workshop logistics and events, arranging travel and accommodation for participants, managing contracts and invoicing, overseeing budgeting and accounting tasks, maintaining the team website, coordinating with ETH Zurich central services, archiving program documents and materials, and supporting partner management with reporting, invoicing, and administrative liaison.
Additionally, you will handle administrative tasks for the head of the CSS Think Tank, including invoices and event logistics.
Profile
- You have a background in office administration or a related field and several years of work experience related to organising educational programs, international events management, or a related field
- You are a curious, flexible, cooperative, independent, and stress-resistant person with strong organizational and interpersonal skills
- You have some experience working in international and/or intercultural settings and an interest in peace mediation
- Excellent English and good working knowledge of German are required
