Position Summary
The Senior Manager, Broadcast Sales & Relationships will work within the NHL’s international department. This person will be responsible for the day-to-day management of existing broadcast relationships and work closely with the SVP International on acquiring new broadcast partners.
The role will be based in Zurich, Switzerland with a requirement for international travel.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Pro-active management of key broadcast relationships throughout contract term
- Work with broadcasters to improve the presentation of the NHL and drive fan engagement; ensure approach is aligned with other NHL departments (marketing, events, fan development, etc.)
- Work with NHL Sales department on potential incremental commercial / sponsorship opportunities with our broadcasters
- Run the process during rights sales cycles, including (a) researching individual broadcast markets and key broadcast players (b) relationship building with potential bidders (including organization of roadshows if relevant) (c) creation of deal documents (including sales documents, and RFPs if relevant) (d) evaluation of submissions / offers (e) work with NHL Legal to finalise broadcast contracts
- Rights sales cycles include both individual programming, event packages, as well as ‘regular’ NHL game rights
- Follow industry trends and news to anticipate changes in the sector and impact on the NHL
Desired Experience / Qualifications
- 6+ years of experience, preferably in a sports context
- Ideal candidate would have experience of working for a rightsholder in the sports space, focused on either rights negotiation and/or broadcaster relationship management
- Understanding of different European broadcast markets would be a significant plus
- Ability to manage several projects concurrently
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
- Success in building strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Research and analysis skills – qualitative and quantitative
- Computer literate: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook
- Fluent in English, all additional languages are an asset
- Open to travel regularly
