What You’ll Do
You will be running all of the technical interactions between Cisco and one (or two) of its most important global customers. This involves day to day interactions with the customers, account team, partners and coordinating a team of Solutions Engineers and Account Executives.
You'll build upon the existing relationship that we have with these customers, to help grow our reputation, our brand and our business. You will be seen by the customer as a trusted advisor and as their gateway to the technical heart of Cisco!
You will look to develop your relationship with the customers every day. You will provide an architectural perspective across the entire Cisco product portfolio and you will rely on your experience for specific opportunities. As a Solutions Engineer you’ll participate in the creation of an overall account plan, based on intelligence about wallet share, stakeholder map and by using various business architecture tools and methodologies. You’ll proactively find opportunities through customer meetings, seminars, and education. As a Solutions Engineer you will be equally coordinating key activities such as proof of value, proof of concept or pilot projects.
Who You’ll Work With
Solutions Engineers at Cisco are customer-focused technical sales professionals who provide high level technical support and guidance to the customer. You’ll collaborate with the different Client Executives and the global account teams to recommend and develop appropriate solutions, comparable to a CTO role. You will also work closely with partners, other internal peers such as Customer Experience and architecture teams, to translate business requirement into a technology roadmap, identify and illustrate business, market and technology trends to discover and drive future opportunities.

Industry leading development programs ensure you will become and remain a technical authority who is entrusted to guide and educate our customers towards building technical solutions that drive innovation within their companies.

The Solutions Engineer needs to have a proven background in Cisco networking solutions (LAN/WiFi/SD-WAN) and in at least one of our key technical pillars: Cloud/AI, Collaboration , or Security.
The Solutions Engineer should have industry knowledge and many years of technology experience in technical selling, explaining features and benefits to customers and designing solutions and products to meet specific customer needs. In additional to technological proficiency and the ability for accelerated learning, the Solutions Engineer needs to have social, presentation, interpersonal and problem solving skills that evoke passion and confidence.
Mandatory skills & abilities:
- Extensive pre-sales experience is required, working on large and complex opportunities.
- CCNP, CCDP or similar vendor Certification.
- A strong multi-domain knowledge. Enterprise Networking experience as a must. Expertise on one or more of the following areas required : Security, Cloud/AI, Collaboration.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, listening, and strong presentation skills in English.
- Ability to work harmoniously in an international and diverse team.
- Strong analytical skills: ability to assess a problem and resolve with an effective course of action.
- This role is to be based in Switzerland.
Preferred skills & abilities:
- CCIE, CCDE or similar vendor certification highly regarded.
- Proficiency in German and/or any other language is appreciated.
- Typically requires BS/BA (EE/CS) or equivalent.

When available, the salary range posted for this position reflects the projected hiring range for new hire, full-time salaries in U.S. and/or Canada locations, not including equity or benefits. For non-sales roles the hiring ranges reflect base salary only; employees are also eligible to receive annual bonuses. Hiring ranges for sales positions include base and incentive compensation target. Individual pay is determined by the candidate's hiring location and additional factors, including but not limited to skillset, experience, and relevant education, certifications, or training. Applicants may not be eligible for the full salary range based on their U.S. or Canada hiring location. U.S. employees have access to quality medical, dental and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with a Cisco matching contribution, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance and numerous wellbeing offerings.
Employees receive up to twelve paid holidays per calendar year, which includes one floating holiday (for non-exempt employees), plus a day off for their birthday. Non-Exempt new hires accrue up to 16 days of vacation time off each year, at a rate of 4.92 hours per pay period. Exempt new hires participate in Cisco’s flexible Vacation Time Off policy, which does not place a defined limit on how much vacation time eligible employees may use, but is subject to availability and some business limitations. All new hires are eligible for Sick Time Off subject to Cisco’s Sick Time Off Policy and will have eighty (80) hours of sick time off provided on their hire date and on January 1st of each year thereafter. Up to 80 hours of unused sick time will be carried forward from one calendar year to the next such that the maximum number of sick time hours an employee may have available is 160 hours. Employees in Illinois have a unique time off program designed specifically with local requirements in mind. All employees also have access to paid time away to deal with critical or emergency issues. We offer additional paid time to volunteer and give back to the community.
Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco typically pays as follows:
.75% of incentive target for each 1% of revenue attainment up to 50% of quota;
1.5% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 50% and 75%;
1% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 75% and 100%; and once performance exceeds 100% attainment, incentive rates are at or above 1% for each 1% of attainment with no cap on incentive compensation.
For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
