The Director, Business Process Excellence (BPE) is a critical leadership role managing the BD Biosciences (BDB) Technology/Business Systems capability, as well as providing leadership for the development and execution of the BDB Technology roadmap and leadership of key critical initiatives. The Director BPE will champion modernization, automation and technology transformation as a key enabler of BDBs strategic goals. The Director BPE is ultimately responsible for the business support of BDBs Business Systems as well as the execution, quality and results of their programs, including achieving defined strategic and financial objectives. This high visibility leadership role will present frequently across various levels up to and including senior leadership.
Responsibilities:
- Lead BDBs Technology/Business Systems platforms teams including SAP, and Halfpipe (R&D PLM Tool), Filemaker/Docunet) and all associated boundary systems and interfaces
- Manage all vendor, business partner and service/technology relationships: Genpact, Capgemini, TGS, TCS etc.
- Manage technology budget
- Provide thought leadership and act as the trusted technical adviser to the business and leadership team. Lead the architecture and enabling technologies strategy for the business
- Provides leadership in the assessment and development of BDBs technology roadmap
- Leverages technology and provides recommendations, solutions and develops business case justifications for ERP design enhancements, and other Business Systems/tools/technologies. Ensure arguments are complete, robust, and have been vetted across all integrated process areas
- Provie leadership for our technology, business systems projects, initiatives and transformations
- Responsible for full cycle project management leadership of multiple medium to highly sophisticated cross-functional programs, including the effective planning (SDLC), execution, ensuring quality, results to set objectives and reports progress
- Leads and guides the day-to-day activities of team members, provides coaching and mentorship, tracks progress against plan, handles the project budget, identifies project risks and provides plans to mitigate those risks.
- Work across a highly matrixed organization, liaises with other business units and/or regions when developing and/or changing policies, programs or processes as needed, as well as corporate Process and Global Services organizations when applicable.
- Demonstrate leadership, learning agility and action orientation when facing uncertainty. Instill confidence through leadership and actions.
- Possesses the skills, knowledge and ability to engage, influence, and direct all functions involved in the development of the assigned project to inspire and empower the team to achieve a common goal or purpose.
- Interacts with functional managers and business leaders to communicate regarding critical project risks, questions or challenges.
- Challenges core team members, functional leaders and business leaders regarding functional and cross-functional strategies and approaches in order to improve outcomes.
- Complete understanding of a wide application of project management principles, theories & concepts (PMI, Lean Six Sigma, Waterfall, Agile, SDLC etc.)
- Proactively champions a culture of Technology Modernization, Continuous Improvement, Customer Centricity and Data Driven Decision making across BDB, including training, coaching and mentoring staff and organization on best practice methodologies and toolsets.
- Stays abreast of latest advances in technology and automation
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Engineering, MBA Preferred
- 10+ years of experience in Information Technology, specifically with Leading SAP ERP implementations in one or more of the the sub-domain areas of Product Lifecycle Management (R&D), Manufacturing, Supply chain, Warehouse Management, Distribution, Procurement
- 5+ years’ experience working within ERP domains and an Enterprise Architecture environment
- Proven track record of driving and leading large-scale architectural or delivery projects throughout an entire business through to completion across multiple business and functional domains (i.e. Manafucturing, Supply Chain, PLM, etc)
- Strong technology experience, including past delivery lead role experience of large SAP ERP implementations including SAP ECC and SAP S/4 Hana
- Exposure to various aspects of architecture practices: business, application, data, security, infrastructure and governanceWorking knowledge of architecture frameworks
- Experience in reviewing and selecting Technical and Applications Architectures solutions
- Experience of working with 3rd party Technical and Application Architects
- Solid hands-on experience on ERP for configuration and development
- Strong interpersonal skills including ability to articulate ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Excellent oral, written and presentation communication skills
- Experience of senior executive/leadership engagement
- Ability to manage through organizational change
- Keen attention to detail
- Strong experience working with diverse technology platforms
- Outstanding analytical skills
- Ability working within pressurized environments whilst making decisive decisions
- Excels in strategic planning and problem-solving skills
- This position may be up to 25% travel across domestic and global BDB locations is required
