Emerged from the Laboratory for Orthopaedic Biomechanics at ETH Zurich and the University of Zurich, the Swiss startup ZuriMED Technologies AG was founded in 2015. Since then, the innovative company has striven to revolutionize the surgical repair of soft tissue by developing breakthrough high-potential medical devices. From the beginning, ZuriMED´s ultimate goal has always been to develop emerging technologies and products which have the potential to significantly improve surgeons’ quality of treatment and ultimately patients’ quality of life.
At ZuriMED, we are working towards the commercialization and launch of our active device in the US. For this, we are seeking a dynamic and highly motivated person to join our Active Device Development Team. Main responsibilities:
- Support the design, development and optimization of active medical devices from ideation to market maintenance.
- Conduct verification and validation of firmware, circuit designs, and hardware to ensure device functionality and compliance with industry standards.
- Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams and end-users to deliver safe and effective products.
- Ensure compliance with medical device standards (e.g., IEC 60601, IEC 62304) and regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, ISO 13485).
- Maintain detailed technical documentation, including design records, verification and validation protocols, and test reports.
- Stay current with advancements in electronics, software development, and medical device regulations.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 2+ years of industry experience in the design and development of active medical devices.
- Proficiency in embedded system design, including programming in C/C++ or Python.
- Experience with circuit design, PCB layout, and electrical testing tools.
- Familiarity with software development life cycles for medical devices (e.g., IEC 62304).
- Strong knowledge of regulatory and safety standards for active devices (e.g., IEC 60601).
- Effective problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Fluent in English to effectively communicate in an international team environment and with suppliers.

Start date: February/March 2025
Duration: This position is offered as a one-year contract initially, with the intention of transitioning to an unlimited (permanent) contract upon successful completion.
