Complete an internship project at SOPHiA GENETICS whose mission is to drive forward the future of liquid biopsy testing by joining the Data Science team as a Junior NGS Scientist Intern.
Your mission:
Contributing to liquid biopsy product development and collaborative research projects, you will work alongside with technical product managers, NGS scientists and data analysts to expand the power of the SOPHiA GENETICS liquid biopsy assay portfolio. You will be placed at the nexus of wide-ranging product development activities and support the design and execution of R&D activities to explore the benefit of including additional disease markers and investigate the utility of liquid biopsy testing.
You will be involved in:
- Support subject matter experts with the gathering of scientific and technical information during the planning phase and gain knowledge of state-of-the art genomic analysis and diagnostic protocols.
- Communicate both internally and externally with research collaborators to share research goals, coordinate activities and track progress.
- Use issue & project tracking software to plan and report R&D activities and obtain an overview of project management.
- Familiarize yourself with design control procedures in an industry setting to gain insights into product development within a world-leading biotechnology company.
Requirements
The experience you bring:
- Hold a qualification in a biology-related subject
- Excellent command of written, spoken English
- Hands-on experience with standard molecular biology techniques (e.g., centrifugation, PCR, electrophoresis).
- Experience with NGS library preparation and sequencing procedures would be an advantage.
- Programming experience (e.g., Python or R) would be beneficial.

- Active listening and the ability to process information quickly, even outside your core expertise.
- Diligence in planning, performing, and documenting experiments.
- Attention to detail in reviewing technical documents.
