Your role and responsibilities
In this role, you will have the opportunity to gain vocational experience through a temporary work placement (9 months). Each day, you will acquire knowledge by performing tasks as directed. You will also showcase your expertise by supporting ABB’s operations and enhancing personal education/employment opportunities.As an intern in 3D Computer Vision you will work on deploying a neural network on an ARM64-based System-on-a-Chip (SoC) with the goal to bring place recognition capabilities of our system to the next level. Your tasks will include optimizing network architectures and the system code running them, performing experiments in the field, debugging and analyzing system performance.The work model for the role is: hybrid #LI-HybridThis role is contributing to the Sevensense team in Zurich, Switzerland. You will be mainly accountable for:• Optimize a new generation of deep-learning based place recognition pipeline to run efficiently on Jetson, powering thousands of robots in the market• Optimize the neural network or the C++ code integrating it in our system for performance• Execute experiments and evaluate the place recognition performance and propose actions for further improvement• Produce code in a large C++ codebase, including feature design, implementation and debugging• Collaborate with a team of open-minded, skilled and motivated software engineers in an environment of learning and supportOur team dynamicsYou have the unique opportunity to join a young and agile company which is part of ABB Switzerland.
Qualifications for the role
- You are currently enrolled in or have completed a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Robotics or similar
- You possess knowledge about geometric 3D computer vision or SLAM such as 3D transformations, camera models, triangulation and projections
- You have proven experience in working in a large C++ codebase over an extended period (e.g. internship, thesis, course project)
- You have experience with deep learning or deploying neural networks for inference
- You have a strong desire and proven capability to work both autonomously and as part of a team in a dynamic high-tech environment
- Basic Python skills are beneficial
- You are at ease communicating in English
- Non-EU/non-EFTA citizens, please note that a certificate from your university, showing that an internship is a mandatory part of your studies, is required for the visa application
