Please note that we can only accept applicants who are eligible to work in Austria or are in possession of a valid work permit.</p><p> </p><p><b>ROLE DESCRIPTION</b> </p><p>The Senior Manager Maintenance plays a crucial role in ensuring 24/7 technical support and consistent technical operation and safety standards across the Viking River Cruises fleet in the respective region. <br />This role requires extensive technical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to manage complex maintenance operations. The role is based in Vienna, Austria and involves intensive traveling across Europe. </p><p> </p><p><b>KEY RESPONSIBILITIES</b></p><p><u>Maintenance operations</u><br />• Define and oversee the implementation of maintenance standards for the fleet of river cruise ships. <br />• Ensure adherence to SOPs and guidelines outlined in Technical Manuals for ship maintenance.<br />• Conduct regular ship visits to assess the condition and ensure compliance with the standards.<br />• Continuously Identify areas for improvement and recommend corrective actions. </p><p><br /><u>Leadership & stakeholder management</u><br />• Lead Maintenance Managers within the area of operation.<br />• Ensure quality of communication and collaboration between shoreside and on-board teams.<br />• Monitor the effectiveness of maintenance procedures and make necessary adjustments.<br />• Provide technical guidance to Maintenance Managers, shipboard staff, and crew members.<br />• Troubleshoot complex technical issues and recommend innovative solutions.<br />• Oversees technical quality and maintenance operations within their designated service area.<br />• Reports directly to the Senior Manager Service Hub.</p><p><br /><b>KEY QUALIFICATIONS</b><br /><u>Functional skills</u><br />• A minimum of 5 years of experience in marine or technical operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.<br />• Strong understanding of maintenance best practices, including predictive and preventive maintenance.<br />• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions.<br />• Demonstrated ability to implement quality assurance processes and ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.</p><p><br /><u>Education and professional experience</u><br />• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in technical operations within the maritime industry.<br />• Experience with modern maintenance management software and systems.<br />• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a related field is an asset.<br />• Professional certifications in maritime safety and maintenance management are an asset.</p><p><br /><u>Leadership Skills</u><br />• Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and develop team members.<br />• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively.<br />• High level of organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.<br />• Strong focus on continuous improvement and innovation in maintenance practices.<br />• Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities and environments.</p><p> </p><p><u>Other requirements</u><br />• Language skills: English (oral and written) on a business level.
