Employment is for a fixed term of 2 years, with options to extend up to 4 years.
Located in one of the world's most liveable cities, this Starting Grant project will investigate how professional career paths vary by gender, ethnicity and social background, focusing on the contribution of self-selection and social closure mechanisms. The project will use an interdisciplinary approach to explore these inequalities within and between companies and will employ a multi-method approach including panel data analysis, automated text analysis, survey experiments and qualitative interviews. One of your main tasks is to help setting up and manage the first representative employer-employee dataset in Switzerland.
Tasks
- Writing articles on the starting grant's topic with the team
- Helping to set up and manage a longitudinal linked employer-employee survey for Switzerland
- Teaching two courses per year
- Administrative tasks
Requirements
- PhD in sociology or adjacent fields (e.g., organizational psychology, economics, business, political science, etc.)
- Strong background in quantitative social science
- Experience with large-scale panel data, preferably with linked employer-employee data.
- Proficiency in English. Fluency in German, French or Italian is a plus.
- Excellent knowledge of statistical software (Stata, R, Python)
- High degree of self-motivation, strong problem-solving skills, and excellent communication skills.
