As Data platform lead you play a crucial role in managing Alpiq's data strategy, infrastructure, and systems. Your responsibilities span various aspects of data management, ensuring that data is accurately stored, processed, and made accessible to those who need it.
Your main responsibilities
- Designing Data Architecture: Developing a blueprint and develop a strategy for managing data across the organization, including databases, data warehouses, and data lakes. This involves selecting the right architecture, technologies, and methodologies to meet business needs and objectives.
- Performance Tuning and Scalability: Optimizing the performance of the data architecture to ensure fast, reliable access to data, even as data volumes grow. This might involve optimizing database performance, scaling infrastructure, and selecting efficient data storage solutions.
- Data engineering: oversees the data engineering community of practice, provides development guidelines for data products, and ensures adherence to these guidelines.
- Integration and Data Migration: Overseeing the integration of new technologies and systems into the data architecture, including migrating data from legacy systems to new platforms.
- Collaboration and Leadership: Working closely with IT teams and the business to ensure the data architecture meets business requirements and supports data-driven decision-making.
- Staying Updated with Industry Trends: Keeping up with the latest trends and technologies in data management to continually improve and update the data architecture.
- Training and Support: Leading data community and providing training and support to end-users and technical staff to ensure they can effectively use and manage the data systems
- Support the Data Governance goals with appropriate technical solutions in the areas of Data Quality (data accuracy, completeness, and consistency), Compliance & Data Security, data modeling and design
Your profile
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional certification in architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF®) or other certifications related to data architecture (e.g., Snowflake Snowpro® Advanced Architect) are advantageous.
- At least 5-10 years of experience in IT or data-related roles. This might include positions as a database developer, data engineer, data analyst, software engineer or be an already established data architect.
- Database Management: Extensive experience with database technologies is crucial. Data Architects need to be adept at database design, management, and optimization.
- Data Modeling & Design: Proficiency in data modeling tools and methodologies, understanding of normalization, and experience in designing entity-relationship diagrams and data flow diagrams.
- Programming: Knowledge of programming languages such as SQL, Python or Java automating data processes and interacting with databases programmatically.
- Data Technologies: Experience with data warehousing solutions (e.g. Snowflake).
- Data Integration Tools: Familiarity with ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes and tools (such as Informatica, Talend, DataStage) for integrating data from various sources.
- Cloud Computing: Understanding of cloud services (AWS) for data storage, processing, and analytics.
- Data Security & Governance: Knowledge of data security principles, privacy laws (like GDPR), and experience in implementing data governance frameworks.
- Communication: Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with IT teams, stakeholders, and to translate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to align data architecture plans with business goals, understanding the strategic impact of data decisions on the organization
