As a Research Associate in the Process Research group of the Fragrance Division, you will develop efficient and sustainable production processes for fragrance ingredients using your skills and creativity in organic chemistry.
The major focus will be to identify and study potential routes and technologies to produce our fragrance ingredients.
You will collaborate with different S&T laboratories in Kemptthal (Zurich) and with Givaudan's perfume creation to study the applicability of your products. You will report directly to an experienced Chemist.
You will:
- Improve and/or elaborate new synthetic procedures for sustainable fragrance materials
- Focus on sustainability and applying green chemistry principles to deliver efficient processes
- Plan and improve the experimental realization of designed syntheses of new fragrance ingredients on gram to multigram scale
- Work with an interdisciplinary environment: biotechnology and analytical laboratories
- Be at the forefront of digital transformation
- Record all data generated from experimental work
- Communicate your results and offer conclusions/ways forward to your line management allowing the successful progress of projects
- Ensure smooth running of the laboratory by sourcing lab supplies needed to manage routine and complex experiments; design and perform lab work in a safe manner; operate, maintain, and organize lab equipment
- Develop your practical skills towards Process Research through practical experience and structured learning
You have:
- Education as a laboratory technician (Laborantin/Laborant EFZ Chemie) in the field of synthetic organic chemistry or equivalent education with the required practical experience in the field
- Of advantage experience in the job
- Knowledge of lab equipment and its safe use to perform daily experimental work
- Ability to document data generated from experimental results and provide conclusions
- Strong knowledge of Environment, Health & Safety guidelines as they pertain to lab maintenance and operation
- A very good knowledge of English and the ability to record experimental details/ conclusions in English; of advantage fluency in German or French
- The passion to contribute to the success of the team in a constructive, creative and enthusiastic manner
