Advanced Industry ADV EU-RoW
VAT is seeking a full-time Field Applications Engineer for EU-RoW. The position is located in Switzerland (HQ) and reports directly to the Head of Sales for Advanced Industries in Europe.
The strategic goal of the Application Engineering role is building and maintaining long term development partnerships with actual and potential customers - securing existing and realize new revenues and results.
Providing Application and Engineering support to the existing and new customer base across the VAT product range. Strengthening VAT's position by providing technical expertise, fast response with a professional attitude.
YOUR CHALLENGES
- Responsible for specification of new product developments and existing product improvements
- Responsible for local customer support - New Product Introduction (NPI), Engineering support. Provide feedback to BU and the responsible Sales Engineer, work closely with R+D and Core competency applications group
- Identify challenges, opportunities at the customer site (retrofit and new projects), recognize new opportunities and sees upcoming challenges at OEM before reaching "official" reporting channels
- Guide customers in finding better performing products for specific applications
- Act strongly on technical level and future trends
- Contribute actively in the creation and maintenance of the VAT know how database
- Deliver communication effectively between market, customers, and BU.
- Customer interface in critical quality escalations including on-site support during investigation
- Responsible for execution and support of onsite testing and product evaluations
- Customer centric - face time >40%
YOUR COMPENTENCIES
- University degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Automation or Vacuum related engineering disciplines
- Solid experience in vacuum engineering, preferably in OEM environment of thin film coating industry.
- Mechanical hands on experience at tools in institute, laboratory or industry vacuum company.
- Extensive exposure to developing products on system or sub-system level preferable in thin film coating industries, R&D, instrument, roughing vacuum equipment or any vacuum relevant application. Well demonstrated creativity for system or sub-system development.
- Specialists on processes, applications & tools
- Strong business acumen, influencing and presentation skills.
- Autonomy and Motivation - Highly motivated and the ability to work unsupervised.
- Solution-orientated thinking.
- Success driven.
- Good handling of MS Office products
- Excellent English Language skills - verbal and written.
