Manager Shipping & Operations

Responsibilities:

We are looking for a Shipping & Operations expert with experience in a commodity trading organization to join our team. In this role, you will be part of a dynamic team and will be involved in a wide range of activities. Your main focus will be on logistics and planning optimization for our commodity trading business.

You will be responsible for the following tasks:

• Manage and coordinate logistics to ensure smooth execution of trades across various transportation modes (ships, railcars and barges)
• Monitor and track contract progress, while handling administrative tasks to support the operational area
• Maintain and update relevant systems with accurate information
• Work closely with the Accounting team to ensure timely and accurate invoice processing and with trading and operations professionals to maximize effciency and minimize cost for our commodity trades
• Develop strong relationships with suppliers, customers and logistics providers to ensurre the smooth flow of commodities to and from our trading partners
• Monitor vessel movements and cargo availabilty to ensure timely delivery and minimize demurrage

Requirements:

• Education in the relevant field of activity (e.g. supply chain, business) and at least 3 years of experience in a commodity trading company or a related industry (e.g. contract management, logistics operations)
• Strong communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills to manage internal and external interfaces
• Strong organisational skills and subject knowledge of operations and supply chain management
• Thorough knowledge of trading environment and processes
• Fluent English and German language skills required. Knowledge of additional language(s) is highly valued
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
• Willingness to go the extra mile, including availability outside of standard working hours when needed
• Fast learning and quick implementation skills combined with high attention to detail in logistics and supply chain processes
