Process Engineer with focus on Clean Utilities (f/m/d)

Our engineering department is a close-knit team of more than 30 employees that covers all engineering aspects in-house. We operate like a family, supporting each other, and are composed of regional and international specialists. Our team communicates in both German and English. This function is responsible for the hands-on operation, maintenance, and optimization of clean utility systems in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. This includes systems such as purified water, clean steam, process gases, and water for injection (WFI). The engineer will also act as a Package Owner in investment projects, overseeing clean utilities within larger project scopes. The role requires participation in troubleshooting, emergency response, and on-call duties, ensuring systems operate without interruption. The engineer will lead improvement projects and support the integration of new technologies.

What you can expect

• Operate and maintain clean utility systems, ensuring the continuous supply of purified water, clean steam, WFI, and process gases to the facility

• Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and corrective actions on clean utilities equipment

• Design and optimize clean utility systems to meet regulatory and operational requirements for purity, reliability, and efficiency and lead projects to improve system performance, including energy efficiency and water usage reductions

• Act as the Package Owner for clean utility systems in large-scale investment projects and oversee the planning, procurement, installation, and qualification of clean utilities packages

• Run the planning and development of Change Control for Utilities into a Veeva workflow

• Manage clean utility system installations, from design to commissioning, qualification, and monitoring, ensuring timely project delivery

• Ensure all clean utility systems comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and other regulatory standards

• Provide hands-on technical support for troubleshooting and resolving utility system issues, ensuring rapid recovery and minimal disruption to production.

• Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs) for any system deviations

Your skills and qualifications

• Academic education (university, university of applied sciences) in the field of mechanical engineering, process engineering, biology, biotechnology, pharmaceutical technology, chemistry or comparable or extensive professional experience in the field of biopharmaceutical technology

• Experience in the biopharmaceutical industry under GMP production conditions.

• Knowledge and previous experience of Utility design and operation are a plus

• Written and spoken German and English

• Initiative, ability to work under pressure, decision-making ability, judgment, independence, conscientious way of working

• Willingness to be available for on-call duties to respond to emergencies or system failures outside of normal working hours, ensuring rapid troubleshooting and resolution

• Good communication skills, team-oriented working style and a high sense of responsibility complete your profile

• Durchführung von Routineinspektionen, vorbeugenden Wartungsarbeiten und Korrekturmaßnahmen an sauberen Versorgungsanlagen
• Entwerfen und Optimieren sauberer Versorgungssysteme, um die behördlichen und betrieblichen Anforderungen an Reinheit, Zuverlässigkeit und Effizienz zu erfüllen, und Leiten von Projekten zur Verbesserung der Systemleistung, einschließlich Energieeffizienz und Reduzierung des Wasserverbrauchs
• Sie fungieren als Paketverantwortlicher für saubere Versorgungssysteme in großen Investitionsprojekten und beaufsichtigen die Planung, Beschaffung, Installation und Qualifizierung von Paketen für saubere Versorgungssysteme.
• Planung und Entwicklung der Änderungskontrolle für Versorgungssysteme in einem Veeva-Workflow
• Verwaltung von Installationen sauberer Versorgungssysteme, von der Planung bis zur Inbetriebnahme, Qualifizierung und Überwachung, um die rechtzeitige Lieferung des Projekts sicherzustellen
• Sicherstellen, dass alle sauberen Versorgungssysteme den Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) und anderen gesetzlichen Standards entsprechen

Ihre Fähigkeiten und Qualifikationen

• Akademische Ausbildung (Universität, Fachhochschule) auf dem Gebiet des Maschinenbaus, der Verfahrenstechnik, der Biologie, der Biotechnologie, der pharmazeutischen Technologie, der Chemie oder vergleichbar oder umfangreiche Berufserfahrung auf dem Gebiet der biopharmazeutischen Technologie

• Erfahrung in der biopharmazeutischen Industrie unter GMP-Produktionsbedingungen.
• Kenntnisse und frühere Erfahrungen in der Planung und dem Betrieb von Anlagen sind von Vorteil
• Deutsch und Englisch in Wort und Schrift
• Initiative, Belastbarkeit, Entscheidungsfähigkeit, Urteilsvermögen, Selbstständigkeit, gewissenhafte Arbeitsweise
