As the AO Community Platform Product and Commercial Manager at the AO Foundation, you will play a critical role in implementing, enhancing, and optimizing AO's digital community platform while driving its commercialization. This role will ensure the platform meets organizational goals by balancing user-centric design with strategic monetization. You will act as the bridge between business needs, technical capabilities, and revenue opportunities, ensuring that solutions are tailored for both community engagement and financial sustainability. Success in this role requires a combination of technical expertise, solution consulting skills, and business acumen to implement platform configurations and develop sustainable revenue streams.
Platform Expertise:
- Serve as the in-house expert on the community platform, with deep knowledge of its technical capabilities, business applications, and commercial potential
- Understand how the platform can be leveraged to meet AO's strategic objectives, enhance community engagement, and generate revenue
Business Requirement Gathering:
- Lead discovery sessions with internal stakeholders and the platform vendor to capture business and commercialization requirements
- Recommend platform solutions that align with business goals, leveraging monetization opportunities such as subscription models, event registrations, or sponsored content
Commercialization Strategy:
- Develop and execute strategies for platform monetization, including defining revenue models, identifying key commercial opportunities, and ensuring alignment with community engagement objectives
- Analyze market trends and user data to identify potential areas for growth and innovation
- Partner with the marketing team to create campaigns that promote revenue-generating features and ensure widespread adoption
Project Documentation & Planning:
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation for both platform implementation and commercialization initiatives, ensuring clear tracking of deliverables, timelines, and key revenue milestones
- Create detailed plans for the rollout of platform enhancements and new commercial features
Solution Design & Recommendations:
- Analyze user and business requirements to recommend solutions that drive both community engagement and revenue growth
- Work closely with stakeholders to shape project delivery and ensure alignment between technical capabilities and commercial objectives
Integration Expertise:
- Advise on integrations with AO systems, including Single Sign-On (SSO), APIs, and payment gateways, to support smooth workflows and monetization features
- Collaborate with the platform vendor to validate commercial capabilities and influence future developments
Collaboration & Evaluation:
- Partner with the Platform Community Manager to oversee pilot programs and evaluate new features, including monetization-related initiatives
- Ensure pilot programs are thoroughly tested to validate their impact on both user experience and revenue objectives
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business, Computer Science, Marketing) with proven experience in platform implementation, management, and commercialization as a Product Manager, Business Analyst, or similar role
- Knowledge of community platforms, integrations (e.g., SSO, APIs), web technologies, and payment systems; familiarity with CMS or collaboration tools is a plus
- Experience developing and executing commercialization strategies for digital platforms, including implementing monetization models and analyzing financial outcomes
- Strong project management skills for cross-functional initiatives, including commercialization projects
- Agile methodology experience is an advantage
- Proactive troubleshooting and risk mitigation abilities, with a focus on balancing user needs with revenue goals
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills to align technical solutions with business and commercial requirements
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, including community engagement and revenue generation, while delivering high-quality outcomes
- Strong analytical and organizational skills, with a detail-oriented approach to documentation and process improvements
