Could you be the full-time Obsolence Engineer (f/m/d) in Zurich we’re looking for
Your Future Role
140 years of Swiss railway history meet modern solutions for green mobility in Zurich. With 300 colleagues, our Zurich site servs as a global competence center for high-performance traction technology and a development hub for locomotives, bogies, mechanical and electrical systems, as well as services for the local and global markets. Our corporate functions play a key role in supporting and continuously improving the performance of our sites. You’ll report to Rui Lochmatter and work alongside a dedicated and enthusiastic team.
We’ll look for you to:
- Actively monitor obsolescence status of electronic components used in Alstom Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) control electronics and check affected hardware products as well as installed base
- Propose obsolescence solutions e. g. replacement component or Last Time Buy to product manager and obsolescence manager
- Solution finding at component level and redesign at PCBA level with Hardware engineering or with Electronics Manufacturing Service (EMS) suppliers
- Maintain technical documentation and manage changes towards both Alstom functions and EMS according to change request process
- Technical support to EMS suppliers for PCBA component-related issues
- Maintain an active technical interface to electronics components within Alstom platform team and to suppliers and brokers
- Optimize methods and process for obsolescence monitoring and Product Change Notice (PCN) and Product Discontinuation Notice (PDN) handling process
- Maintain product data in Alstom databases (TOMSYS, Orchestra, PDM etc)

- Bachelor of science or higher in electronic engineering or electrical engineering
- Knowledge and experience in electronics hardware design and manufacture
- Knowledge and experience in Alstom IPR control electronics
- Familiarity with database tools
- Knowledge of Python preferred
- Good German and English essential, basic French useful
- Passion for maintaining legacy products and finding solutions
