In a nutshell
As a Staff Research Scientist in the life cycle assessment of future systems in the agriculture and food sector, you will assess the ecological sustainability of the agricultural sector whilst taking account of different dynamic and future-oriented scenarios. For this, you will develop new methods, contribute to their technical implementation and ensure their compatibility with SALCA and other existing methods, or further develop the SALCA method accordingly.

Description
This is how you can contribute
- Managing and conducting research projects on prospective and dynamic ecological sustainability assessment of the agiculture and food sector
- Defining scenarios that are compatible with life cycle assessment models to describe future developments in the agriculture and food sector
- Strategic development of the research field and acquisition of third-party-funded projects
- Further development and adaptation of models, methodologies and life cycle inventories in the research field
- Publication of the results in international and national scientific journals
Requirements

-Completed doctorate in agricultural or environmental sciences or similar (or equivalent knowledge and experience) with a strong focus on agriculture In-depth knowledge of prospective and dynamic life cycle assessment with wide experience of implementing the same in Brightway; experience in pairing life cycle assessment and ecological models A good understanding of the agriculture and food sector and its future developments Good knowledge of two official Swiss languages and good English

Additional information
The ’Life Cycle Assessment’ Research Group investigates environmental impacts and sustainability assessment in the agriculture and food sector. It develops methodologies, data and tools, applying them in projects concerning agricultural production systems, farms, or the agricultural sector with a view to improving agricultural products, foods, diets, nutritional scenarios, and agricultural policy measures.
