Job Description
Your responsibilities
Are you passionate about technology and interested in supporting the CERN research communities collaborating with industries? Join the CERN IT Platforms and Workflows Group and the team responsible for hosting some of the most critical Java applications that are developed at CERN. The team is also responsible for providing Kubernetes platform to the Single Sign-On service and Worldwide LHC Computing Grid (WLCG) Identity and Access Management.
As a member of the team you will:
- Work with cloud-native technologies and Kubernetes to innovate existing production services
- Evolve current platform adopted by CERN developers towards GitOps model leveraging existing ArgoCD installation
- Empower developers reducing load on the platform team
- Foster strong collaboration with CERN developers to gather requirements, receive feedback, and establish joint working policies
- Migrate production applications to the new model while ensuring continued developer support
- Enhance the platform's security through measures such as image signing, and the implementation and enforcement of Kyverno policies
Your profile
Skills
Required skills:
- Experience in cloud native technologies, particularly Kubernetes, ArgoCD
- Experience with deployments to multi clusters and/or multi cloud providers
- Experience with Git, Helm, Kustomize
- Problem solving attitude
- Flexibility and willing to learn new things and technologies
Considered as a plus:
- CKA/CKAD/CKS certification
- Java Web Development experience
Eligibility criteria:
- You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State .
- By the application deadline, you have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Software engineering (or a related field) and your highest educational qualification is either a Bachelor's or Master's degree.
- You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
- Applicants without University degree are not eligible.
- Applicants with a PhD are not eligible.
Additional Information
Job closing date: 6th March at 23:59 CET.
Contract duration: 24 months, with a possible extension up to 36 months maximum.
Target start date: 01-June-2025
