Within the area of High Voltage Products, the Technology Centers are responsible for the development and optimization of products like Gas Insulated Switchgear, Generator Circuit Breakers, Surge Arresters, High Voltage Interrupter Chambers, Capacitors, Insulation Components as well as Control and Monitoring solutions.
Within the global development organization, the materials team in Switzerland supports colleagues from throughout the business unit with material selection, qualification, processing and failure analysis, to ensure the highest quality and best customer experience of our products.
We are looking for a Chemist or Materials Expert (m/f) with a broad background in materials processing and characterization methods. How you’ll make an impact

Materials development, selection, specification, and qualification in interdisciplinary teams between materials science, mechanical and electrical engineering

Lead and contribute to R&D projects with planning, execution, analyses and documentation of experiments - both in lab and production scale

Close collaboration with scientists and engineers from Hitachi Energy research, development centers and external laboratories and service providers around the world

Write tutorials, guidelines, test procedures and reports
Your background

Master’s degree or equivalent degree (university of applied science/university) in material science, chemistry, chemical engineering or closely related subject

Experience in project management and/or with materials in the context of the electrical industry would be a strong asset

Team player with the capacity to work independently, complemented by good analytical and communication skills

Openness for new challenges and interest to learn and develop

Fluency in English, basic German skills or willingness to learn German

Willingness to travel: 5-10%
