At our Bern site, a variety of life-saving biopharmaceuticals are manufactured, from plasma fractionation to the packaging of the final product. Within Bulk Manufacturing, we purify fractionated starting materials using well-established and modern large-scale purification techniques to produce highly purified, "ready-to-fill" bulk products of the highest pharmaceutical quality.
Each bulk product is produced in dedicated, highly automated, and meticulously maintained manufacturing facilities by passionate and effective teams, composed of operators, team leaders, safety officers, and scientific/administrative support functions — all under the leadership of the facility owner.
Your key objective will be to support and drive top-tier results in safety, quality, reliability, innovation, and people development. We are now seeking a Senior Scientist to join the Operational Service Function for the Bulk Value Stream and invite talented individuals to become part of our dynamic team.
As an Operational Service Scientist, your responsibilities include:
- Defining, implementing, and maintaining standards for safety, quality, and reliability across all bulk manufacturing facilities, in alignment with existing systems, guidelines, and best practices. This includes developing and delivering instructions, training, and continuous education programs.
- Managing and further developing the quality and safety risk management systems and tools, analyzing reported risks, and defining/executing effective risk mitigation actions, initiatives, projects, or strategies.
- Managing major/critical deviations within the Value Stream, defining effective CAPAs, performing efficiency checks, and ensuring timely deviation closure.
- Initiating, coordinating, and managing changes relevant to the Bulk Value Stream.
- Leading, supporting, and/or managing initiatives and projects that contribute to operational excellence and the CAPEX portfolio.
- Defining, measuring, analyzing, improving, and sustaining systems that enable decision-making and operational control (e.g., paste allocation, deviation and analytical/process data trending, capacity models, cycle time measurement). Providing technical and decision support to the leadership team on specific topics.
- Supporting during authority and customer inspections.
- Reviewing Quality and Safety documents.
- Understanding data elements, definitions, and usage, as well as establishing and maintaining performance monitoring dashboards.
Your Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (preferred) in a scientific or technical discipline.
- Minimum 2–3 years of successful experience in the pharmaceutical industry or another highly regulated environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in both German and English
