The opportunity
Hitachi Energy, High Voltage Products, is renowned worldwide as a specialist for power transmission and distribution. Our unit Gas Insulated Switchgears (GIS), based in Zürich-Oerlikon, is active in the development and production of Gas Insulated Switching Systems. We ensure the high reliability of our systems by using state-of-the-art development tools and methods.
Make a significant impact within primary engineering by enhancing manufacturing processes and driving operational efficiency. In this role, you will lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean methodologies, manage projects independently, and tackle complex problems to boost our organization's profitability and efficiency. You'll also coach and support lower-level professionals, ensuring our team thrives.
How you’ll make an impact

Analyze designs, methods, and internal manufacturing processes to identify areas for improvement.

Develop strategies and initiatives aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and reducing costs.

Implement process improvements and changes in product design and manufacturing methods.

Lead continuous improvement initiatives using various Lean methodologies and principles, such as 5S, Value Stream Mapping (VSM), Single Minute Exchange of Dies (SMED), Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), and Kaizen.

Manage projects and processes independently with limited supervision.

Coach and review the work of lower-level professionals, providing guidance and support.

Tackle difficult and sometimes complex problems, finding innovative solutions to drive the organization’s profitability and efficiency
Your background

Advanced knowledge of manufacturing processes, typically obtained through advanced education and work experience, beyond existing qualifications for GIS project manager

Min. 5 years of experience in analyzing and improving manufacturing operations

Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering

Strong understanding of Lean methodologies and principles, green belt or black belt is a plus

Ability to develop and implement strategies for operational efficiency

Experience in managing projects and processes independently

Skilled in coaching and mentoring lower-level professionals

Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle complex challenges

Fluent in English and good level of German
