As the technological spin-off of Solar Impulse, the first electric airplane to fly around the world, the mission of H55, is to make aviation clean, safe, and affordable.
The company’s strengths and competencies lie in developing propulsion and energy storage solutions which are modular, lightweight, and certifiable.
Having integrated and flown 4 electric airplanes, the Swiss start-up has been selected by Pratt & Whitney Canada to provide the battery pack for its regional hybrid-electric flight demonstrator. This recent announcement is a further illustration of H55’s position as a major enabler in the electric commuter market.
Your Mission:
Join our Health & Safety (H&S) team, currently composed of one dedicated professional, and contribute to fostering a strong safety culture across our organization. As a Health & Safety Specialist, you will collaborate closely with your colleague, supporting the development and implementation of safety practices while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Actively participate in the development of the company’s safety concept, offering innovative and practical solutions to improve workplace safety.
- Conduct risk assessments for various job roles, tasks, and environments, identifying potential hazards and proposing effective mitigation measures.
- Provide on-site support to teams, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and fostering a culture of awareness and accountability.
- Conduct analyses of events (accidents, incidents, near-misses) and ensure lessons learned and corrective actions are implemented and shared across the organization.
- Stay informed about Swiss occupational health and safety regulations (and potentially environmental regulations) and ensure their correct application within the company.
- Collaborate closely with the existing H&S team member to address operational challenges, share insights, and drive continuous improvement.
- Education:
- A Swiss-approved certification in occupational health and safety, such as ASGS/STPS/SLPS or an equivalent qualification recognized in Switzerland.
- Experience:
- Prior experience in a similar role, ideally within an industrial, manufacturing, or technical environment.
- Prior experience on environmental risk management is a plus
- Languages:
- Proficiency in one of Switzerland’s national languages (German, French, or Italian) to interpret legal texts.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken) to communicate effectively within the organization.
- Skills:
- Strong analytical skills for risk evaluation and mitigation planning.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to engage with employees at all levels.
- A proactive and solution-oriented approach to addressing challenges.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with Swiss occupational health and safety laws and standards is highly desirable.
