Reuters is seeking a talented and experienced business editor to join our Spot Enterprise editing team in the Americas. We are seeking a journalist capable of identifying key trends and major events in important industries and of working closely with EICs and reporters to develop enterprise stories around them. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of producing high-level journalism, and an understanding of how to deliver ambitious bodies of work on business issues. We need a gifted writer, with ambition to push reporters, a keen ear for language and the versatility to handle both quick-turn exclusives and long-format Special Reports, which can stretch to thousands of words. Crucially, the successful candidate will have a finely attuned radar for legal and ethical dangers and the judgement to know if a story needs to be reworked, re-reported or spiked.
Ideally, we are seeking a candidate with management experience who could deputize for the head of the Spot Enterprise team.
As Reuters embraces different story-telling formats, the ability to think creatively about how to convey information most compellingly to our different kinds of clients would be an asset. Previous experience editing or reporting in the Americas as well as expertise in business journalism would be a major advantage.
The position will report to the Global Editor, Spot Enterprise.
