The Wireless analog/digital and LoRa System teams located in our Neuchâtel and Grenoble offices have unique expertise in system level solutions for Low Power Wireless Area Network (LPWAN) Products. These teams are the world’s leaders for Long Range, Low Power, battery powered, Wireless Communication. The Semtech expertise cover a unique field from the antenna, IC analog and digital design, low power system, protocol, and cloud-based solutions.
You will be part on the Journey of the new LoRa and LoRaWAN System architecture.
Job Summary:
The Embedded Firmware Engineer will, plans, designs, develops and test embedded firmware that controls a wireless transceiver or SOC.
Responsibilities:
- Architecting (10%), developing (25%), and verifying (25%) firmware for SOC that define the core functionalities of our wireless IOT transceivers (60% in total).
- System validation during SOC assembly process (30%).
- Interacting with integration engineer and application team during design and validation phase (10%).
- A great plus depending on the profile is to implement high level protocol stack like BLE master-Slave profile up to link layer.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 3+ Years of firmware engineering experience.
- Strong C / C++ coding skills.
- Strong understanding of hardware-software development challenges with a real-time. Resource-limited, battery-operated device.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- At least experience on one of most common processors like ARM, ARC and RISC-V.
- Ability to develop embedded software on both bare-metal and RTOS (FreeRTOS, Zephyr, Mynewt).
- Knowledge of automating test equipment such as, oscilloscope, logic analyzer, protocol analyzer, python, etc.
- Experience with Bluetooth BLE 802.15.4, ZigBee, 6LoWPAN, etc.
- Ability to bring up a prototype board and debugging.
- Highly collaborative with other engineers to achieve task completion including analog and digital team.
Desired Qualifications
- Capabilities to run RTL simulation using common available tools in market.
- Experience working with device drivers.
- Experience with JTAG debuggers.
- Knowledge of communication protocols (SPI, I2C, IP, RS485, USB, TCP, etc.).
- Experience in setting up tool chains and build environments.
- Ability to design and develop wireless data communication protocols.
- Knowledge of git database management and collaborative work.
