The Global Business Services (GBS) organization of BD is seeking to hire a highly motivated individual for the role of Director – Enterprise PMO – Standards and Governance. The successful candidate will play a leading role in transforming how we manage programs and projects across BD.
Reporting to the Senior Director, the Director of enterprise PMO Standards and Governance will oversee the development, implementation, and adherence to project management standards, ensuring consistency, efficiency, and alignment with organizational goals in a global setting.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the Standards and Governance team in an active, highly engaged manner creating a vision and modeling behavior of a servant leader but never completely detaching from the day-to-day needs and operations of the business
- Establishing and (or) defining the Standards and Governance structures (forums, review boards) and standards (Methodology definition, adherence) across all programs and projects the Enterprise PMO is expected to deliver
- Conduct Project Quality Audits on enterprise programs and validate that the defined standards and governance are adopted diligently across the EPMO led projects and programs
- Manage multiple sub-workstreams in the standards and governance function with the help of a small team reporting directly(or dotted line) which roll up into the standards and governance organization - sub-workstreams may include but not limited to - running of the value realization office, run the community of practice, guardian of the reporting and analytics mechanisms and ensure continuous value attainment of business case goals
- Provides leadership, direction and coaching across global teams on adopting global standards in Program, Project, Change and Value management
- Managing the enterprise level portfolio, project, program planning tool(s) and associated processes & reporting
- Ensure appropriate SLAs, KPIs, and performance metrics are in place for all existing and incoming Programs and Projects to drive accountability and continuous improvement
- Think, plan and act strategically & cross functionally - by identifying & pursuing opportunities to create common, core capabilities, using the ‘build once, use many’ principle
- Align with TGS, GBS , Business function(s) operating models and enforce that the BD Standard Frameworks are adopted and integrated successfully into the EPMO organization
- Measure and communicate value realized on a periodic basis through defined and agreed upon metrics and supporting analysis
- Collaborate with stakeholders across different departments to ensure alignment on objectives, strategies, and tactics related to improving the standards and governance processes and practices
- Serve as a continuous connector. Energized by a role that is focused on partnership and facilitation. Operate through the lens of what can we do to simplify and improve things
Qualifications:
- Hands on 10+ years of relevant experience, building & leading global enterprise PMO Standards and Governance function (preferred Med Tech experience)
- 3+ years of working experience with the Big 4 consulting firms in the PMO practice (highly desired)
- Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field is strongly preferred. Master’s degree highly desirable
- Educational certificate or training in a process methodology is a plus
- Professional Project Management Credentials from accredited institutions is highly desired (PMP®, PRINCE®, PROSCI ® Six Sigma, LEAN are preferred)
- Expert in Agile Ways of Working and can bring Product Model Expertise into the Organization (PMI-ACP is preferred)
- Influencing & diplomacy skills, with an ability to lead and drive change in a collaborative, positive way
- Ability to map joint organizational vision and long-term thinking, imagination, and idea generation
- Familiarity with continuous improvement and project management approaches, tools, and phases
- Innovative thinking, strategic focus & aptitude that challenges the status quo
- Organizational agility with a proven track record in collaborating across organizational & cultural boundaries – experience working in a highly matrixed environment
- Relationship management with an ability to work effectively with multiple layers of the organization – in particular, working with / supporting executive team members is critical
- Executive oriented business strategy development & management – from visioning to tactical implementation
- Deeply analytical, with experience in budget & resource planning, management. Strong financial acumen is a must
- Ability to communicate complex business / technical challenges in a simplified manner
- Resilience, grit, empathy and accountability, lead by example – mentor & motivate others
- Excellent written & oral communication & networking skills
- Excellent judgement & effective decision-making & problem-solving skills
- Highly organized, outcome oriented with excellent planning & motivational skills
