Principal Responsibilities
- Interface with sell side research, industry participants and company representatives to screen investment ideas & help manage information flow with them.
- Review & analyse research materials on companies, sectors and economic trends.
- Gather market data and prepare screens to track and analyse trends in stocks.
- Monitor markets & perform industry and sector analysis.
- Update & develop in-house valuation models.
- Aggregate different sets of Food & Beverage specific industry data and company specific data to generate predictive analytical models and produce previews ahead of quarterly earnings reports.
- Build a coverage of 20-30 companies across the Food, Beverage and Household & Personal Products industries. Regularly update financial models and views on these companies and their current share price, and develop Buy or Sell recommendations for the Portfolio Manager.
- Generate trading ideas for the portfolio management team through research projects.
- Identify, evaluate and implement timely market opportunities and trading strategies to generate P&L.
- Prioritize work in a fast moving, high pressure, constantly changing environment.
- Assist in other projects and duties as requested.
Qualifications/Skills Required
- Master’s Degree in the field of Finance is required.
- At least 5 years’ experience working in a global sell-side investment firm is essential.
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience covering Food or Beverage equities is required.
- This experience must include:
- Advanced financial modelling and data analysis.
- Familiarity with Consumer Staples specific data sources: Nielsen, NABCA, BNIC, Euromonitor and country-level reporting of industry specific data.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Extensive experience in financial modelling (DCF, Multiples-based valuation, SOTP).
- Advanced user of Bloomberg and acquaintance with BDP, BDH and BQL formulas is essential.
- Quick learner, detail oriented, and a high sense of urgency to navigate market changes.
- Demonstrable thoroughness and strong ownership of work.
- Strong communication skills.
