As a leader in education, the Zurich University of Teacher Education (PH Zurich) is actively shaping the schools of today and tomorrow through its teaching and research. Work at the Centre for Education and Digital Transformation focuses on three key research fields:«Education and Digital Society», «Digital Learning and Teaching» und «Computing Skills and Education».
During the fixed term of five years, the PhD student has the opportunity to pursue a doctoral project at the Centre for Education and Digital Transformation and benefits from participation in cooperative doctoral programmes at the PH Zurich.
The doctoral thesis is in alignment with current research priorities at the Centre. In their motivation letter, applicants are requested to describe their research interest and how it relates to one or more of these priorities. Potential topics include the following:
- Media ethics in educational contexts
- Data literacy and digital competencies in teacher training
- Datification of schools
- Digital transformation of educational institutions
- Inclusive computer science education

Conceptualization and carrying out your doctoral project
- Active participation as a team member at the Centre for Education and Digital Transformation
- Contributions to international presentations and publications
- Strong master’s degree in an educational discipline that grants access to a PhD programme
- Knowledge and research interest in the area of education and digital transformation
- Good knowledge of German or the willingness to learn German
- Good knowledge of English
