What you'll do
To lead, mentor and develop a group of cross disciplinary solutions architects. This team will lead the development of technical solutions in response to customer requirements providing engineering information to bids and tenders and provide technical feedback and validation of new products in support of offer management.
As a senior leader within the business the role holder will also provide a technology and solutions view into commercial matters and strategy development and aid in development of product roadmaps to ensure the roadmaps are technical coherent and will address the future needs of our customer base.
The day-to-day
In leading the team you will
- Establishes and implements short term and long-term organizational goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures for their own department.
- Monitors and evaluates the performance of the team ensuring the right skills exists to meet the customer demand and solutions are delivered to the desired quality, budget and timescale.
- Has overall control of planning, staffing, budgeting, managing expense priorities.
- Review the return on investment activities of the team to ensure the team is being utilised to deliver the greatest commercial benefit for the company.
- Develops the team to be agile, responsive to internal and external customer needs, and be leading technical authority in the key technology areas as defined by the BU strategy.
- Ensure solutions engineers have the depth and breadth depth of skill to develop solutions across a broad range of technologies across satellite engineering, RF communications, terminals, ground infrastructure, networking, and control applications.
- Cultivate relationships across the organisation at a senior level to ensure the solutions architects have access to the right tools, information, and support to be successful.
- Cultivates collaborate relationships across the Capture department area leads to represents technical aspects in any discussions and ensure Solutions architects goals are aligned with the overall objectives of the department.
- Communicate and report on team activities, raising and resolving roadblocks to ensure immediate and long-term goals are met.
- Provide support to VP on any technical matters, or matters within your area of expertise as may arise form time to time.
In support of commercial management team you will:
- Provide support to all bids and tenders that require an engineering input, fully documenting high quality solutions in a timely and collaborative way.
- Ensure solutions leads are assigned to bid teams to respond to provide technical insight on the specific requests
- Guide Commercial Managers and Sales on the art of the possible ensuring we are driving innovation to maximise competitive advantage.
- Document solutions as the need arises to respond to the customer and to support hand over to operations team for delivery and on-going support.
- Provide technical leadership on any technical matter that may be raised as part of the bid response, including liaising with other technical teams cross the business to resolve issues, manage technical risk and ensure the requisite support is in place.
- Engage with operational teams to ensure solutions can be delivered in an appropriate way.
In support of Offer Management team you will:
- Provide support to all product developments on the Offer management roadmap
- Validation of new products, systems and services
- Represent the business units interest in all discussions with central teams and suppliers to ensure that technical specifications are appropriate, technical risk is managed and technical issues are appropriately raised and address to ensure the technical aspects of new products are fit for purpose.
What you'll need
- Degree qualified in an Engineering discipline (or a related discipline).
- 5 years System Engineering experience (or related experience)
- Demonstrable leading a team of technical experts.

- Space asset

- Demonstrable leadership experiance with good time management, ability to organise teams to operate effectively and ability to inspire high performance.
- Good verbal and written presentation skills

- An understanding of International Government ways for working
- Lateral or 'out of the box' thinking
