Power Unit Engineer (Geneva - Switzerland)
With the continuous growth of racing series, the FIA embraces cutting-edge projects to meet new technical, sporting and operational challenges.
To support these advancements, the FIA technical department is strengthening its expertise and seeking a Single -Seater Power Unit Engineer.
The positions will be in the FIA Powertrain Group, based in Geneva with some attendance to races and tests in various series but mostly oriented to the Formula 1 championship.
MISSIONS AND RESPONSABILITIES:
Project management:
- Lead complex technical projects related to power units, focusing on the definition and oversight of single-supplier partnerships across relevant categories
- Propose innovative solutions, research, and development initiatives to support the FIA’s role in these partnerships
- Oversee technical projects for powertrains in single-seater series, ensuring regulations remain up to date and aligned with FIA and promoter objectives
- Support the Powertrain group in all activities involving inspection and homologation of the 2026 Power Unit
- Collaborate closely with Track Engineers to ensure real-time updates and alignment regarding supplied parts
- Liaise with the other FIA departments, particularly the Electronics and Performance & Simulation groups to ensure seamless collaboration
Regulations development:
- Contribute to the definition of championship regulations, especially those related to tendering processes
- Participate in internal discussions aimed at improving single-seater technical and operational regulations
- Actively engage in Technical Working Groups to shape future regulations
Monitoring and technical auditing:
- Develop solutions to monitor and ensure the compliance of supplied parts with championship regulations
- Oversee single-supply projects, liaising with external suppliers and competitors
Race and test attendance:
- Attend races and tests as needed to support the Powertrain group activities related to single-supply
- Assist with the powertrain system inspections and provide on-site technical support
- Communicate actively with competitors, suppliers and event organizer
PROFILE:
- Engineering degree or equivalent expertise in Electrical and Powertrain Engineering
- Minimum 5 years of post-graduate experience in Powertrain engineering, preferably in motorsport with proven track support experience
- Strong background in managing complex technical projects
- Fluent in English, French is a strong asset
- Demonstrated ability to learn continuously, work autonomously, and make informed decisions
- Comfortable working in fast-paced environments with evolving objectives
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage priorities effectively
