research, development and production of powertrains.
Around 265 highly qualified employees work at FPT Motorenforschung AG in Arbon, directly
on the shores of Lake Constance in North-Eastern Switzerland. We are the leading innovation
centre for FPT and play a central role in the development of future powertrain solutions (not
only for diesel engines but also for electrified drivetrains, hybrid engines and fuel cells, as well
as for novel engine concepts and fuel types) and are therefore at the forefront of a transition
within Iveco towards a future of alternative propulsion systems.
To fill a vacancy created by the recent promotion of the former incumbent, we are currently
looking to fill the position as
Engine Development Senior Engineer Innovation (f/m/d)
Your responsibilities:
- Be part of the Innovation Propulsion System Development group. Contribute in defining
the roadmap of future ICE powertrain. - Test analyze and evaluate different technologies on internal combustion engines.
- Set up and troubleshoot experimental prototype engines and subsystem configurations.
- Perform in-depth analysis of engine combustion performance and emissions parameters.
- Coordinate complex activities that involve a team of testing engineers, facilities, and inter-
departmental personnel. - Ensure that high quality reporting is generated for every testing activity.
- Collaborate with technical project managers and provide a clear technical evaluation and
direction on various technical aspects. - Enforce high quality standards on testing and reporting making sure always to raise critical
issues on a timely manner. - Strive for continuous improvements and state of art methods for engine and calibration
development topics. - Bring on board out of the box thinking and a “can do” attitude and enthusiasm.
- Be able to work under pressure and manage conflicting priorities.
- Work closely with other departments ensuring smooth transition between different project
phases. Ensuring cross functional key information flow.

Our requirements :
- (Postgrad) degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
- 10+ years of experience in internal combustion engine development and calibration.
- Thorough understanding of internal combustion engines and after-treatment systems,
including engine control systems, software applications and combustion calibration. - Broad knowledge of test bed equipment as well as testing procedures.
- Extensive experience with evaluation tools (e.g. CONCERTO) as well as measurement
and calibration tools (INCA and others). - Strong communication skills as well as vast experience in drafting reports and presenting
the results in a highly professional manner - Fluency (C1 or higher) in English as our business language is a must, with additional
German skills being considered a welcome asset. - Innovative and creative mindset and are willing to drive new ideas and methodologies.
- Basic knowledge of EMS components (electronic actuators and sensors)
- Avalid work permit for Switzerland is a compulsory requirement (not needed if you
are a Swiss citizen or hold a passport from an EU-26 or EFTA member state!)
