TENURE-TRACK ASSISTANT PROFESSOR AT ASSOCIATE PROFESSORSHIP
Area of specialisation: Vocational Training Full-time position: 100%
Profile
- PhD in social sciences or equivalent;
- Academic teaching experience;
- Proven research record in the field of vocational training ;
- Links with national and international networks in the field of vocational training;
- Ability to attract external funding;
- Excellent writing skills in English;
- Ability to teach in French within two years of hiring.
Teaching (45%)
Six hours a week of teaching throughout the year, including:
- Sociology of education, BA lecture course, 56 hours/year (2 hours/year) (6 ECTS credits).
- Swiss system of education, vocational guidance and training, MA course, 56 hours/year (2 hours/year) (6 ECTS credits).
- One BA or MA-level course in the post-holder’s area of specialisation, to be confirmed based on the needs of the institution, 56 hours (2 hours/year) (6 ECTS credits).
A release from two hours’ weekly teaching / year will be granted during the pre-tenure period. This will apply to the course to be confirmed.
The post-holder will supervise Master’s dissertations and PhD theses. Research (45%)
The post-holder will pursue their own research in the field of vocational training, in Switzerland and on a comparative basis, in collaboration with the leading house Governance in Vocational and Professional Education and Training (GOVPET) hosted by the universities of Saint-Gallen and Lausanne. They will demonstrate their research experience in analysing various issues connected to vocational training, including, for example: access conditions to combined college and workplace-based vocational training,

training and workplace integration pathways for apprentices and graduates into the world of work, political regulation of vocational training in Switzerland.
It is expected that the post-holder will be affiliated to the Centre of Life Course Research (CIR-LIVES) of the Institute of Social Sciences, that they will be an Associate Member of the Education and Training Observatory (OBSEF) and that they collaborate with their colleagues on joint projects. Collaboration with other UNIL research centres is also encouraged.
The post-holder will seek external funding, in particular from the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF).
Administrative responsibilities (10%)
In accordance with statutory requirements and in the name of collegiality, the post-holder will take on any administrative tasks that may be assigned to them by LIVES, OBSEF, the Institute, Faculty, University or university decision-making bodies.

The post is located in the Institute of Social Sciences (ISS) and the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (SPS).
