This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has a keen interest in Lab Informatics and seeking a new challenge. A curious individual who is driven to learn and has the desire to understand and solve customer problems to deliver customer success.
We are looking for individuals who want to further establish themselves as Application Engineer as part of the Customer Success team to support our valued customers across our Lab informatics product solutions in Ghent, Belgium or Lausanne, Switzerland. This role offers you the opportunity to travel and explore a variety of labs, so it is vital to have an appetite for continuously learning about new software technology, instruments, applications, and consumables. In addition, applying communication skills, creativity, and a can-do approach.
Role:
The successful candidate will have the unique opportunity to deliver and implement client service solutions to ensure the customer gains the full advantage of the software. Our new colleague Applications Engineer will work with our SLIMS (LIMS and ELN) platform and will be part of both our local and global dynamic team.
SLIMS is a platform that allows supervising all stages a sample follows to the final result. SLIMS captures information about the sample, requests for measurements, and follows its entire workflow through the lab, supervising manual operating procedures, automated instrument steps, and calculations until the final report.

The tasks to be performed are multifaceted and a creative mind is needed to be able to identify and implement customer solutions and improve the quality of life in the lab environment. As a SLIMS Application Engineer you will
- analyze customer's needs, and translate this into SLIMS workflows
- configure the SLIMS platform to match the lab's requirements
- build plugins for connecting instruments or displaying custom forms or portals
- act as the customer voice to influence future product design to meet customer needs
- script a lab's in-silico tools into our integration framework
This position can either be based in Ghent, Belgium or Lausanne, Switzerland in our hybrid model (3 days onsite, 2 days remote)
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in life sciences or similar, or alternatively solid relevant experience in this application engineer field.
- You are customer focused, work independently, with sense of initiative and a hands-on approach
- You are a teammate, assist and review colleagues’ work and share obtained knowledge and performed activities
- You have a strong affinity for software
- You have knowledge of programming languages such as Java or Python with proven coding skills
- Able to travel up to 50% of your time to our customer sites
- Knowledge of databases, operating systems (Linux & Windows), and networking
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written in English – Dutch, French or German is a plus
- Strive to provide excellent customer support
- Excellent problem solving, analytical skills and technical troubleshooting skills
- Laboratory experience whether it be in Analytical, Biobanks, Pharma, Biopharma, Genomics, NGS, etc is a plus

This job has a full time weekly schedule.
