The Position
As a student internship at “Particle & Formulation Characterization” you will be working in the department “Solid State Sciences” (PTDC-P) . Behind every product sold by Roche is the strong involvement of Pharma Global Technical Operations (PT). Starting with Phase 1 of the clinical development process and continuing through to product maturity, PT makes medicines at sites around the world and includes more than 10.000 employees worldwide.
In Synthetic Molecules Technical Development (PTDC) as part of the Global Technical Development (PTD) unit we bring a broad range of experience across drug substance (DS), drug product (DP), analytical sciences and manufacturing technology. We collaborate closely with key partners in the departments Research and Early Development (pRED/gRED), commercial manufacturing (PTC) and PTD and we are responsible for late stage technical development of our small molecule pipeline, manufacture of DS and DP for clinical studies and transfer of the processes to commercial manufacturing.

Measuring particle size distribution (PSD) is crucial for analyzing powders in oral dosage forms for improved material insight and manufacturing robustness. Although automated laser diffraction systems are available, they primarily use water as a dispersion medium, whereas our main medium is heptane. This makes the automation more challenging regarding safety.

The aim of this project is to discover an innovative approach for thorough PSD characterization that optimizes resource use and maintains outcome quality for our clients. It encompasses setting specifications for automated PSD and the final concept with a focus on cost evaluation.
In this internship position, you will:

Transfer know-how and train Roche project responsible to implement the solution.
Who you are:
You are a student (or you graduated within 12 months prior the start date) preferably in the subject of automation of analytical technologies, Engineering, Robotics and you are interested in the Pharmaceutical industry. Furthermore, you are interested in using and sharing your knowledge as part of your internship in a modern working environment. Your further profile for this position:

Reliable and accurate working style in a non-GMP and/or GMP-compliant environment

Team-oriented and decision-making personality

Self-sufficient, problem solving-oriented working habits

Good knowledge of MS-Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google environment

Proficient in English, German is a plus
This internship opportunity is one of a number of positions we offer in the department per semester.

Furthermore, you have to be enrolled during the entire duration of the internship.

The Internship will start in 2025 for 6 months, please indicate your preferred start date in your application.
