For the Nuclear Fuels group of the Laboratory for Nuclear Materials we are looking for a

Your tasks

  • Perform thermomechanical and creep tests of zirconium alloy samples
  • Understand and describe hydrogen diffusion and precipitation in the test material
  • Use advanced characterization methods like scanning and transmission electron microscopy
  • 3D visualization and analyses of the tested material, including using cutting-edge neutron imaging
  • Cooperate with our partners from industry
  • Publish your results at international conferences and in peer-reviewed journals

Your profile

  • Master’s degree in mechanical science, materials science, chemistry or nuclear engineering
  • Good and solid knowledge of materials, diffusion and thermomechanical behavior
  • Proven problem-solving skills, creative and hands-on personality
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary and international team
  • Very good communication skills and good knowledge of English, knowledge of German is an advantage
  • You are prepared to support work in a hot laboratory and to take shifts of beam campaigns
