About the role
This position will be responsible for the Electrical and Electronics designs of the Kiestra Lab Automation instruments. The scope of this role is the total life cycle of the designs (from concept development up to and including phase out).
For the coming 2 years the main focus will be on further improving the performance of the recently launched instruments and limit New Product Development activities.
The R&D Electronics and Electrical engineering team includes 4 members.
- 1 EE lead (Staff engineer, this open position)
- 1 Senior Electrical Engineer
- 1 Medior Electrical Engineer
- 1 Medior Electronics Engineer
The EE lead will - together with the ME (Mechanical Engineer) lead- be responsible for all Mechatronic product designs and takes accountability for the quality of the EE product designs. In this role cross functional alignment with other disciplines (in- and outside R&D) is crucial.
Main responsibilities will include:
- Ensures EE design work is delivered on time, on spec and within budget
- Develops system level design input and outputs for Electronics and electro-mechanical systems in instrumented products.
- Prepare cost estimates and (re)designs products to meet cost targets.
- Leads or participates in design reviews.
- Thoroughly assess the ability of proposed designs to meet specified requirements, including manufacturability and serviceability.
- Interacts closely with software, systems, and mechanical engineering functions to develop comprehensive solutions to design problems (and opportunities).
- Actively drive the new- and existing product development efforts from concepts to implementation
- Drive and review hardware design phases including architecture and design deliverables
- Mentor the EE team members and support them in applying the design- and development tools as the engineering principles, DFMEA and DFSS, or equivalent tools, to develop robust designs
- Developing electronic hardware designs based on requirements provided by product owners
- Working with external suppliers regarding re-allocation of supplier base (manufacturing) as well as for co-development.
- Providing support during production and at customer site to resolve any issues found.
About you
- Pharmaceutical and/or medical device industry experience, with a strong record of delivering products to market or developing commercially viable technology is desired.
- Bachelor's Degree (Master’s degree preferred) in Electronics/Electrical Engineering required with a minimum of 8 years engineering experience required or equivalent combination of industry experience and advanced education.
- Strong technical judgment and advanced technical leadership skills.
- Experienced in phase gate product development processes and project planning tools.
- Detailed knowledge of electronics manufacturing and Design for Six Sigma or similar robust process development process required
- Strong problem analysis and solving skills in English
- Experience working with electronics CAD tools Solid works Electrical and Altium (preferably eplan)
- Good understanding of electronics manufacturing processes such as PCB assembly and testing
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
