Your responsibilities

Are you a recently graduated scientist interested in industrial engineering and quality management processes?

This role in the ABT group (Accelerator Beam Transfer) at CERN is a pivotal role that ensures the highest standards of quality in the development and maintenance of accelerator beam transfer systems.

This position specializes in Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) software and process management, contributing significantly to the efficiency and reliability of CERN's accelerator infrastructure. You will work within the dynamic and innovative environment of CERN.

You will join the dynamic and innovative environment of CERN as an Engineer, contributing to the Accelerator Beam Transfer (ABT) group. This group specializes in the physics, design, construction, controls, and operation of accelerator beam transfer systems. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in advancing cutting-edge research and development projects. Your efforts will focus on ensuring the success of the installation, maintenance, and operation of the accelerator beam transfer complex, with a strong emphasis on enhancing quality-related aspects.

Key Responsibilities:

EAM Software Management: Oversee the implementation, configuration, and optimization of EAM software. Ensure that the software meets the needs of the ABT group and integrates seamlessly with other systems used at CERN.

Process Management: Assist with the development of documents, and optimize processes related to the maintenance and operation of accelerator beam transfer systems. Identify areas for improvement and implement changes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Training and Support: Provide training and support to staff on the use of EAM software and quality control processes. Ensure that all team members are proficient in the tools and techniques necessary to maintain high standards of quality.

Reporting: Prepare detailed reports on quality metrics, process improvements, and system performance. Present findings to senior management and stakeholders, and provide recommendations for further enhancements.

Your profile

Skills

Education:

  • A degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field.
  • Knowledge or experience in quality management or related processes is a valuable asset

Technical Skills:

  • Familiarity or basic experience with Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) software such as IBM Maximo, Infor EAM, ERP, or SAP PM.
  • Fundamental understanding of process management methodologies and quality assurance principles.
  • Basic knowledge of quality routines, including inspection plans, quality control, maintenance, and reporting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify issues, analyze data, and implement effective solutions.

Behavioural Skills:

  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Teamwork: Proven ability to work effectively in collaborative, multidisciplinary environments.
  • A detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to maintaining high quality standards.

Fluency in English is required. The ability to work in French is an advantage.

Eligibility criteria:

  • You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State .
  • By the application deadline, you have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Industrial engineering (or a related field) and your highest educational qualification is either a Bachelor's or Master's degree.
  • You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
  • Applicants without University degree are not eligible.
  • Applicants with a PhD are not eligible.

Additional Information

Job closing date: 18 January 2025 at 23:59 AM (midnight) CET.

Contract duration: 24 months, with a possible extension up to 36 months maximum.

Working hours: 40 hours per week

Target start date: 01-March-2025

This position involves:

  • Work in Radiation Areas.
  • Interventions in underground installations.
  • Residence in the immediate vicinity of the Organization's installations.
  • A valid driving licence.
