Consumer Foresights & Analytics Manager

Position Purpose:

The Foresight & Trends team within the Global Strategic Insights group at JTI plays a pivotal role in helping the business become a future looking, consumer centric organization. As part of our Think Consumer, Navigating the Future ambition, we need to stay at the cutting edge of how consumer behaviors are changing, and how that translates into business opportunity and strategy for JTI.

We are looking for a Consumer Foresights & Analytics leader, able to build the big picture, translating it into clear, concrete consumer-centered scenarios and implications for JTI.

He/she will lead the development of a simple, clear, actionable Trends & Foresights framework, connecting data & information, creating insights from deep Business & Consumer understanding, from the past, to today, towards the future.

You will be accountable for creating the picture of how the future landscape will look like for our industry; you will be communicating regular trend analysis that tracks shifts in consumer behavior. You will also be responsible for exploring how AI and predictive analytics can be used as part of our Foresight activities, to help provide a competitive advantage to JTI. To this end, we are looking for someone with exceptional skills in synthesizing large amounts of quantitative and qualitative information and data (structured and unstructured) into actionable conclusions, and presenting these conclusions in compelling stories.

This role provides a wonderful opportunity to define, shape and build new-to-business capabilities that will have significant impact.

This role will be part of a highly visible team working across our brands, portfolio strategy and reduced risk products groups on foresight based projects. The role reports into the Director Foresight & Trends and will work closely with other members of the Strategic Insights group, including the VP Global Strategic Insights.

What will you do-responsibilities:

  • Future of the Nicotine Universe: provide strategic foresights and trends analysis and presentations to the business that synthesize findings in clear, engaging and compelling ways, and ensure actionability to business units and enterprise initiatives
  • Lead the visibility and understanding of the new data-driven Foresight System across the JTI business, by putting in place the relevant tools, formats and content to make it dynamic, actionable and accessible
  • Create an accessible data environment to materialize and translate social media cultural listening intelligence, consumer trends data and category and competitor intelligence as part of this new data-driven Foresight System
  • Connect and interpret insights from this system to consumer motivations and broader macro drivers of change
  • Build upon existing trends and foresight capabilities by vetting and onboarding new technologies and data sources to develop best-in-class methodologies and future-facing consumer understanding
  • Constantly evaluate new and existing supplier partners to ensure JTI is using cutting-edge methods
  • Communicate regularly with stakeholders to ensure alignment between foresight efforts and organizational goals
  • Lead the management and budget oversight of preferred partner relationships

Who are we looking for – requirements:

  • Advanced degree in a quantitative discipline preferred
  • 8-10 years experience in consumer foresights and data analytics in FMCG / CPG, ideally some exposure to nicotine products
  • Expert quantitative analytical skills and ability to combine different data sources (e.g. social listening data; survey data; brand tracking data; behavioral panel data) into hypotheses and recommendations
  • Significant experience using syndicated research (e.g. Retail Audit; Euromonitor and similar) and progressive trend and foresight tools leveraging fast-moving consumer signals (e.g. Brand watch; Net Base Quid, Next Atlas and similar)
  • Experience in leveraging Generative AI and machine learning as part of consumer foresight and trends analysis a plus
  • Familiarity with strategic foresight methods and applications (e.g. horizon scanning; scenario planning; back casting)
  • Expert PowerPoint, Infographics and data visualization skills to deliver compelling reports and presentations in creative and impactful ways
  • High level of tolerance in working in ambiguity with the ability to drive projects through to completion
  • Fluent in English with strong written and verbal skills (second language is a plus)
