The Department for Biomedical Research DBMR is a research department of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Bern, Switzerland with the mission to provide the researchers of the Inselspital (Bern University Hospital) with the best possible environment and infrastructures.
We are seeking to hire a person with a PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, data science, computer science, statistics or applied mathematics.



Tasks

The ideal candidate should have experience working with large data sets and developing methods to integrate multidimensional data. The aim of the project is to use electronic health records to predict recurrence and survival after treatments for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), incorporating physiological, biological, and clinical characteristics to personalize healthcare.

Requirements

Experience coding in at least one programming language (e.g., R, Python, C).
Unix and shell scripts.
Good knowledge in machine learning, high dimensional data analysis and visualization as well as statistical modelling.

Ideal skills:
  • Time series analysis.
  • Gaussian processes.
  • Missing data interpolation.
  • Data classification methods (e.g. random forests).
  • Omics data analysis (e.g., genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics).
